Slow Morning?
Your ringing alarm clock startles you awake in the morning and all you’re thinking is, “just five more minutes!” How is it already time to get up and get going? Staying in bed is so tempting, but you know you have a list of things you need to do today. After ten minutes of dreading getting up, you roll out of bed and unwillingly head to the kitchen, but sometimes a cup of coffee isn’t enough to get you ready for your day. Don’t worry, we’ve all been there before. These are the worst kinds of mornings, but fortunately there are a few things you can do to motivate yourself and get in your zone.
The first thing you need to do is to simply just get up. Snoozing the alarm clock five times is not going to make it easier to get out of bed the fifth time. Something I like to do is to plug my phone in across the room, so when my alarm goes off in the morning I have to actually stand up and walk over to my phone to shut it off. This forces me out of bed before I can subconsciously snooze my alarm in the midst of waking up and stay in bed another ten minutes.
Get some food in your belly! As they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Sometimes its easy to forget to eat something as you’re flying out the door, but you need at least something for your body to get some energy from first thing in the morning! Whether it’s a granola bar, a piece of fruit, or even a piece of toast, you will be able to tell the difference when you’ve actually had something to eat (in addition to some caffeine).
Another thing that could help you is to move around; you need to snap out of slug-mode, fast. Exercise releases endorphins into your body that trigger positive feelings and make you feel good. You could stretch, jog, dance around while you’re getting ready; even if you take just a five minute walk around the block in the morning, you’re going to be feeling better and more on your game after getting your heart pumping a little. This will get you going and motivated for the rest of your day.
The biggest part of getting motivated, however, is to just prove any negative thoughts wrong. Today is going to be a good day. I will get everything done. Your mind is a powerful thing, and it can influence what goes on around you.
Positive Mindset = Positive Life
