For the Love of Dog! Why dog-friendly coworking works

dog friendly coworking

Meet Kona, the Groundwork Pup!

She’s been here for just two days—and the change is measurable and immediate. Dog friendly coworking is undeniably good for us!
We’ve all felt it: a visible, tangible shift in energy.
Kona, the newest Fall River office dog, we’re so HAPPY you’re here!

The official “pup-parent” of Kona is our very own General Manager, Nicole. How lucky are we that we get to share her?  What a joy it is to watch members light up the moment Kona trots through the door—tails wagging, hearts softening, smiles spreading.

While not every workplace can accommodate pets, Groundwork Fall River has always been about creating spaces that nurture connection, creativity, and community. And sometimes, the best team member isn’t human at all.

The Science Behind the Snuggles

Having dogs in the workplace isn’t just adorable—it’s scientifically proven to be good for us. Forbes reminds us that dogs can:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety by lowering cortisol levels
  • Boost morale and productivity through moments of play and presence
  • Encourage social interaction among coworkers, fostering collaboration and conversation
  • Enhance well-being by elevating oxytocin—the “bonding hormone” that helps us feel calm, connected, and happy

Simply put, dogs make the workday brighter. Their gentle presence reminds us to breathe, stretch, and take mindful breaks. Whether it’s a quick walk outside or a belly rub between emails, Kona encourages us all to take a ‘paws’

A Culture of Care

At Groundwork, we’ve always believed that well-being fuels creativity. From our self-care events to our community-driven coworking spaces, we’re proud to cultivate an environment where our members can thrive.

Kona has already become an integral part of the Groundwork family—an unofficial greeter, stress reliever, and mood-booster all in one. Her presence is a daily reminder that work doesn’t have to feel rigid; it can feel joyful, mindful, and deeply human (with a side of snugs). So next time you stop by Groundwork Fall River, don’t be surprised if you’re welcomed by a wagging tail and a blue ball. Kona is here to show us all that love, laughter, and a little fun can make even the busiest days feel lighter.
