How to share your art at Groundwork

The Groundwork Art Space is a community-centered platform where local artists can share their work, their process, and their ideas. Located at Groundwork New Bedford, the Art Space prioritizes access, experimentation, and community-led programming.
While the space functions as an exhibition venue, it’s not a conventional gallery. Instead, we invite artists to shape how their work is experienced—through exhibitions, artist talks, process shares, workshops, and creative gatherings. The focus is on presence, exposure, collaboration, and dialogue, rather than sales alone.
We welcome all practices and are especially interested in work grounded in care, justice, curiosity, and a strong connection to place.
How to submit your artwork
You can submit your work here → Artist Application
Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year. Below is a quick overview of what to expect.
Submission Guidelines
- Submissions are accepted year-round and reviewed on a rolling basis
- All mediums are welcome
- Work should not be derogatory, offensive, or sexual in nature
- Student and youth submissions are encouraged
- Artists should submit high-quality images of their work
- Submissions must include an artist bio and a brief statement about the work
- Exhibitions typically run for a minimum of two months
We strongly encourage group shows, as their collaborative nature aligns closely with our mission. If you apply as a solo artist, our Art Space Director may suggest pairing your work with others when there’s a natural synergy.
Plan a community event
Creation is often a solitary act, but events offer an opportunity to share your process, celebrate your work, and connect with the local creative community.
We strongly encourage artists to plan interactive, community-based events such as artist talks, demonstrations, workshops, or process shares. These moments help bring the work to life and invite deeper engagement from viewers.
Selling your work
While sales are not a primary function at the art space, you are welcome to provide a price list and make sales. Groundwork does not take a commission. All earnings belong to the artist. Artists are responsible for collecting payment and distributing their sold work.
That covers everything you need to know about how to submit to our art space. If you have questions, or want to collaborate with us, email us at art@groundwork.space

We welcome drop-in visitors to the art space during our business hours Monday-Friday 9AM-2PM.
