What’s your profession?

I am a business owner and a teacher. I own a yoga studio, I founded a yoga outreach non-profit, I am an MBSR (Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction) teacher, mindfulness meditation teacher, and I teach yoga trauma-sensitive yoga outreach classes.

Describe a typical work day for you.

It’s a mish-mash of all things: I do things like update my two websites, teach a group yoga or meditation class, work on marketing for the non-profit, email with clients and teachers, and plan both schedules up to a year in advance. I’m always working 6 months ahead, at least.

What is the biggest challenge you face at your job?

Splitting my time wisely between the studio and the non-profit so I don’t end up cannibalizing one for the sake of the other!

Do you have a morning routine?

Of course! At least half an hour of yoga, and half an hour of meditation. I set an intention for the day as soon as my eyes open to be kind and compassionate to myself and others.

What are your favorite productivity tips or hacks?

Mindfulness! Slowing down. Pausing before sending emails, breathing! Not feeling pressure to reply to people immediately. One thing at a time.

What do you listen to during the day?

Nothing, just the sound of what’s around me.

How do you benefit from using a coworking space?

By being around a group. I used to work from home or at the yoga studio, which can feel isolating. I enjoy the energy of the group environment.

What’s in your digital toolbox?

Canva is my savior for graphic designing.

What is the most surprising or unusual aspect of your life?

I like to go on silent meditation retreats several times per year. No reading, no writing, no music, no talking, no engaging. Just silence and contemplation.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by meaning. I believe everything happens for a reason – everything. And so I look for the meaning in things, and when I can’t automatically find it, then I let go. Oh, and puppies. I am also inspired by puppies.
