Mass Lt. Governor Karyn Polito Visits Groundwork!

Karyn Polito, Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, joined Elizabeth Warren in the ranks of powerful women who have visited Groundwork! Polito’s visit to Groundwork! was part of a larger tour of downtown New Bedford, hosted by the City of New Bedford, the New Bedford Economic Development Council, and MassDevelopment. The purpose of the tour was to show the Lt. Governor the site of a proposed re-development project in the downtown area.

The Lt. Governor started her tour at Groundwork! to see a coworking space (and MassDevelopment grant recipient) in action. She commented on the open design of our space and how it must foster a collaborative atmosphere. She was excited to learn that Groundwork! is a women-owned business, and asked both Dena and myself why we decided to settle in New Bedford.

We are looking forward to more good things on the horizon for New Bedford, as this visit clearly demonstrates that the state government is invested in the future of our city. As for Dena and I, with all of these power women in our midst, we’re wondering if we should buy some pant suits!
