Member Spotlight: Glenn Daluz
Glenn Daluz needed an escape from the corporate world, and he happily found a safe harbor at Groundwork! One of our resident night owls, Glenn seems to have the perfect schedule: spend time outdoors during the day, and work from early evening into the night. Although Glenn is quietly focused while at work, he’s good for a chat if you happen to find him in the kitchen, particularly if you want to talk travel. It’s also worth mentioning that his chorizo sandwiches were a major crowd-pleaser at the last Groundwork! potluck. Here Glenn shares about his career in finance, love of travel, and survival tips for a long commute (hint: podcasts).
What’s your profession?
I have been working in finance in one form or another for my entire career. I quit my job in corporate banking in May because I needed a temporary break from it. So, that’s why I’m here at Groundwork!
Describe a typical work day for you.
In corporate America, my day involves a long and stressful commute, followed by a very structured day guided by policies and procedures. Here at Groundwork!, the 24 hour access allows me to come in later, and work until the night. Sometimes, I get my best work done at night.
What’s the biggest challenge you face at your job?
Dealing with bureaucracy that is corporate America. Having worked at so many large companies, it can be very hard to get a small task done sometimes. Frustrating.
Do you have a morning routine?
A few days a week, I get up early and head to the gym before the day starts. It helps to give me some energy for the rest of the day.
What are your favorite productivity tips or hacks?
Getting a good night’s sleep and exercise are two ways that I find I have more energy, and thus I’m able to be more productive.
What do you listen to during the day?
Nothing while working. Just Podcasts on the commute.
How do you benefit from using a coworking space?
It gives me the ability to get out of the house so that I can focus on other projects without being distracted. It also gives me access to other likeminded people which helps if you are trying to build a new business and etc.
What’s in your digital toolbox?
Over the last few years, I have really enjoyed listening to Podcasts on entrepreneurship. It’s really motivating hearing stories from people that created larger companies from scratch.
What is the most surprising or unusual aspect of your life?
Not too sure. Some people think I’m much younger.
What inspires you?
Family and Travel – I am very close with my family, so they are an everyday inspiration to succeed in life and do the best that I can. Second, my love of travel. I want to succeed financially so that I have the ability to experience all this world has to offer
