Groundwork Awarded Collaborative Workspace Grant for Fall River Location
NOVEMBER 2023 HOLYOKE, MA — Groundwork received a $45,000 grant to complete the fit out of its Fall River location from the Collaborative Workspace Program. The Program, administered by MassDevelopment, supports the development of collaborative workspaces across Massachusetts, including makers spaces, commercial kitchens, traditional coworking spaces, and more. Groundwork was among 39 projects in Massachusetts that received funding for this round, including three others in Fall River.
Groundwork’s co-founder, Sarah Athanas, traveled to Holyoke for the awards ceremony pictured above. she commented, “It’s challenging to finance spaces like ours in small markets such as New Bedford and Fall River. The Collaborative Workspace Program has been tremendously helpful in getting Groundwork’s New Bedford location off the ground, and now Fall River. It’s wonderful that MassDevelopment and the Baker-Polito Administration understand the positive impact that collaborative spaces bring to their communities.”
Groundwork will use the grant funds to furnish two meeting rooms in Fall River, add dedicated desk seating, and purchase technology and equipment such as phone booths and conference cameras. This award marks Groundwork’s fourth round of funding from the program since it began in 2014. The Fall River location had its soft opening on October 31st of this year, and will hold a grand opening ceremony when the additional furnishings are installed.
“We are thrilled to open in Fall River. The reception from the community has been wonderful. There are many great things happening there, and we are looking forward to playing a role to support local entrepreneurs,” said Athanas.
