Author talk
SATURDAY, JAN. 13 – It’s a painful chapter in the city’s history – but evil sometimes must be confronted if not exposed. Author Maureen Boyle does just that in her book, Shallow Graves: The Hunt for the New Bedford Highway Serial Killer. That killer stalked vulnerable women in the city back in the 1980s, when Boyle was a reporter for The Standard-Times. This afternoon from 3:00-4:00 p.m., she’ll discuss her book and that time at an Author Talk presented by the New Bedford Free Public Library downtown at 618 Pleasant Street.
The Blues
SATURDAY, JAN. 14 – Doug’s House of Harmony at 818 Kempton Street, about a block east of Rockdale Avenue, is a newish addition to the city’s nightclub scene that is hosting some interesting acts. Tonight, come check out “The Blues with Professor Harp” from 9:00-midnight and discover this nice, neighborhood pub with a great sound.
Ladies who brunch
