Groundwork Fall River: Everything you need to know about our second location

Groundwork will be located just up the hill from Battleship Cove at the corner of Bank & Durfee Streets.

We’re thrilled to announce that Groundwork Fall River is opening this fall. This expansion has been in the works for a long time, and we can’t wait to open our doors to our new neighborhood. Here’s what you need to know:

When will we open?

We are targeting September for a soft opening that will include private offices and open seating. A grand opening will happen in early 2023 with all the bells and whistles– conference rooms, phone booths, and dedicated desks. Construction on the Fall River space is complete, so we expect minimal delays.

Why bring coworking to Fall River?

Over the years we’ve learned that Fall River and New Bedford don’t always play nice together. Yet, we believe that a regional South Coast economy will benefit everybody. We intend to create spaces that will foster connections between New Bedford and Fall River: our members will have the ability to move freely between spaces and attend events programming at both.

Where are we located?

We’re located in the Creative Class building at the corner of Bank and Durfee Streets. This location is highly walkable to restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. (I’m already frequenting Taqueria Habanero and I’m pretty sure our members will, too.) The Creative Class is a mixed-use building with residential units, and we are excited about the opportunity to create community with the residents.

What makes this location especially significant is that the building was originally the Bradford Durfee Textile School– essentially, a sister to the New Bedford Textile School that became the Quest Center where we are currently located. You will notice the similar architecture in both of our buildings. More importantly, we love that our members get to occupy the same spaces as the entrepreneurs and educators who powered the textile industry here on the South Coast at the turn of the century.

Who is involved?

Groundwork in Fall River will be managed by our co-founder Sarah, and we are looking to hire a part-time community manager. Ideally this person will be a Fall River resident who loves their city and is excited to build something new. Send us an email if interested and we will let you know when the job posting is live.

What services will Groundwork offer in Fall River?

Our Fall River location will host 10 private offices of different sizes, open coworking space, and dedicated desks. Additionally, we will have two conference and meeting rooms along with our virtual mail offerings. You can check out this page for more details on the services.
