Lory Vargas on the importance of routine and human interaction

Lory joined us at Groundwork last Fall, but it seems like she’s been a member forever! Her upbeat personality was the perfect addition to our coworking community; and when she brought some show-stopping honey goat cheese to our cheese tasting event, her legendary status was confirmed. What’s your profession?

I’m a nurse by trade but work in case management for patients with autoimmune and neuromuscular disorders

Describe a typical work day for you.

Lots of emailing and phone calls with patients, clinicians and medical offices.

What’s the biggest challenge you face at your job?

Time management and boundaries.

Do you have a morning routine?

Yes, I’m an early riser and start each morning with a few miles of trail running with my dog. Then coffee, breakfast and meditation.

What are your favorite productivity tips or hacks?

Having a routine is a must. Whatever you need it to be, but stick to it.

What do you listen to during the day?

Pandora all day but my vibe determines the station for each day.

How do you benefit from using a coworking space?

I live in a rural area, so getting out of the woods and seeing human beings is mandatory.

What’s in your digital toolbox?

I confess, i’m not very digitally tuned in but Pinterest is my daily go to.

What is the most surprising or unusual aspect of your life?

I’m at the beginning of a major life change, so this answer is TBD.
