Grab some lunch and get inspired by what’s coming to New Bedford! Mark Parsons will share the plans for New Bedford Research & Robotics (NBRR) and answer questions during this lunch-hour presentation.

NBRR is an equitable innovation, education, and entrepreneurship laboratory focused on creativity and technology as inter-systemic bridges that bring people and organizations together to benefit society. Through a suite of programs that starts with social impact and education, NBRR is building an ecosystem that opens access to technology and lowers barriers between social, educational and economic structures.
To enhance the development of untapped entrepreneurial capacity and investment, through a technology-focused equitable innovation ecosystem that benefits the city of the New Bedford, its diverse communities, and unique regional opportunities.
About Mark Parsons:
Mark Parsons is an entrepreneur, designer, educator, and technologist. He is the founder and Executive Director of New Bedford Research & Robotics (2022). Parsons advises startups, and sits on industrial and educational advisory boards, including a 2019 appointment by the US Department of State as a US Speaker on Creativity, Innovation and Technology. His 2016 TEDx talk “Making a Thing. Discovering a Space” underscores how creativity and technology can be agents that empower people and bring communities together.
Parsons has previously served as Founder of NYC’s Consortium for Research & Robotics, Director of Production Technologies at Pratt Institute Architecture, and Director of NYSED’s STEP program.
After graduating from UMass Dartmouth in 1992, Parsons sailed around the world on a 40 foot sailboat he rebuilt then returned to working as a carpenter in New Bedford, MA before getting a graduate degree from Cornell University and heading to New York. After 24 years in Brooklyn, he is now home in New England again.
