Laymen who Query: An Introduction to Data Science

$60This four-week course covers the basics of data science; specifically, how to ask and get answers from your data. At the end of the four weeks, you will be able to:
- Understand the nomenclature around data.
- Understand the differences between different types of data storage (File storage, RDBMS, Big Data structures, etc)
- Understand and construct simple SQL queries against your data.
- Be able to export and massage your results in Excel.
This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in a role as a data practicioner, as well as anyone in an analyst role, and small business owners who would like have structured data and would like to drive insights.
No prior experience necessary. Students will need a Windows-based laptop and a desire to learn.

Teacher: Kevin Maillet
Kevin is a senior architect at Bank of America. A self-driven auto-didact, Kevin began his career as a an operations analyst at Soverign Bank after years of working his family’s wholesale seafood business. His aptitude for problem-solving and learning on the job led him into a 15-year career of analyzing, extrapolating, and managing data. Kevin believes that a career in data science is attainable to anyone with an inquiring mind and the drive to learn new things constantly.
