Art Reception: Sarah Brown and Her Legacy
December 7 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
FreeSarah Brown and Her Legacy: An Exhibition Featuring the Late Sarah Brown’s Pastel Paintings and the Work of Her Students
This art exhibition celebrates the lasting impact of the late artist and teacher, Sarah Brown, whose guidance and mentorship shaped the work of her students. This heartfelt exhibition features a selection of Sarah’s own pastel paintings alongside the vibrant, dynamic works of five of her former students: Freddy Popitz, Sandy Panek, Svetlana Bivens, Nicole St-Pierre, and Susannah Davis.
All of the artists, who were members of Sarah’s pastel group, share a deep connection to her creative vision and teaching. Their work, created in the medium she so loved, reflects not only their personal artistic journeys but also the profound influence Sarah had in bringing them together as a community of artists. This exhibition stands as a tribute to Sarah’s legacy, highlighting her ability to nurture talent, foster collaboration, and inspire through the simplicity and beauty of pastel.
The opening reception on December 7nd will be an opportunity to experience the power of Sarah Brown’s influence firsthand, through both her own work and the work of those she mentored. Join us in honoring a teacher whose spirit continues to live on in the art she inspired.
Exhibit runs from December 2 through the end of January.
All are welcome to join in a celebration of art, legacy, and community. Public viewing is available during Groundwork’s staffed hours of Monday-Friday from 9:00am-2:00pm.
