He is the founder and Executive Director of New Bedford Research & Robotics (2022). Parsons advises startups\, and sits on industrial and educational advisory boards\, including a 2019 appointment by the US Department of State as a US Speaker on Creativity\, Innovation and Technology. His 2016 TEDx talk “Making a Thing. Discovering a Space” underscores how creativity and technology can be agents that empower people and bring communities together. \nParsons has previously served as Founder of NYC’s Consortium for Research & Robotics\, Director of Production Technologies at Pratt Institute Architecture\, and Director of NYSED’s STEP program. \nAfter graduating from UMass Dartmouth in 1992\, Parsons sailed around the world on a 40 foot sailboat he rebuilt then returned to working as a carpenter in New Bedford\, MA before getting a graduate degree from Cornell University and heading to New York. After 24 years in Brooklyn\, he is now home in New England again.

Join Josh Amaral and the PACE team to learn more about the growing housing affordability crisis in New Bedford and discuss creative ways to tackle the problem. The days of the $800 New Bedford apartment are over\, but housing stock people can actually afford is critical for the success and stability of young professionals\, families\, seniors\, the business community\, and others. This problem affects everyone\, and we must intervene before it’s too late to protect a New Bedford everyone can afford to thrive in. \nPACE (People Acting in Community Endeavors) is a non-profit Community Action Agency created to mobilize and utilize both public and private resources to affect the improvement of the economic and social quality of life for low income residents of the Greater New Bedford area. \nThis is a public event and lunch is provided to attendees so space is limited. He was most recently an Executive Team leader for Samsonite’s $1.3B US business\, composed of key stakeholders and C level leaders.
