DESCRIPTION:Sergio Barbieri is an Argentinian artist  graduated from the Escuela Nacional Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires. With multiple techniques and talent\, he developed his skills while traveling around his country and Brazil. His work reflects a journey of both personal and artistic growth. His art is a tribute to a life full of color\, imagery and creativity. His unique pieces are part of both public and private collections around the world and they bring forth a spirit of joy and deepness. Born in 1944\, Sergio focused his professional life as a photographer\, museum curator and expert in sacred art. He was for 26 years researcher of the National Academy of Fine Arts in Argentina. His artistic work has been a passion throughout all his life. Today he chooses to share his work more openly with you.

DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate our latest art show\, featuring the work of Emily Brodrick: \n“Feminine Habitat” exhibition by Boston based artist Emily Brodrick will be on view at the Groundwork Gallery from July 22nd – September 2nd; Please join us for the opening reception on Friday July 29th from 6:00-9:00 pm \nExhibition Statement: \nFeminine Habitat\nEmily Brodrick uses crochet and knitting to create vibrantly colorful installations\, sculptures\, and interactive art that feel alive and animated and also reference domestic objects and labor. \nShe asks people to consider fiber art history and how\, up until recently\, fiber was not considered fine art because of its association with femininity. She pushes the limits of what is accepted as art in reference to this history by creating work that is functional and feminine. She questions the idea that fiber is passive and she does this by creating pieces that demand your attention with their jarringly saturated colors and large scale. \nHer work also references living organisms and she is interested in the similarity between the way plants and her works grow. She imagines many of her pieces as part of a family of living entities that are sentient plants\, unable to communicate\, but always listening.
