SUMMARY:Opening Reception for Partner Projects
DESCRIPTION:Partner Projects Studio\, the art and illustration studio of Timothy Ellis Cole\, will exhibit “NOTHING without EVERYTHING\,” a body of work including a free-hand mural\, hand-painted surfboards\, mixed media installations\, paintings and prints at GROUNDWORK!\, located at 1213 Purchase Street\, New Bedford\, MA.  Opening Reception takes place on Friday\, January 22nd from 7:00-9:00 PMand remains up through March 20.  \nInterconnectivity defines our existence.  The Buddhist concept of “dependent origination”  explains that in isolation\, nothing exists outside of relationships with other beings or phenomena.  The same concept holds true in physics: an atom is dependent on entangling with another.  Emptiness is infinite potential and emptiness is all that there would be without these relationships of interconnectivity between atoms\, beings\, etc.  I am “NOTHING without EVERYTHING.”  \nThis body of work seeks to illustrate the necessary relationship of interconnectivity and interdependence through literal and figurative means.  Groundwork! is an appropriate venue because it is the professional embodiment of interconnectivity through co-working.  Artistic collaborations bring new dimension to the work\, defining them in space\, context and experience.  The two painted surfboards exist because Shawn Vecchione first hand-shaped them.  They hang because Tim Burlingame designed and built racks from repurposed skateboards. The full aural and spacial experience of the “Whaleboat” installation exists because Michael F. Dubois meticulously recorded ambient sound and the space is only more than emptiness because Bryan Randa sculpted the glass whale.  Interconnectivity is found in the subject matter depicted in the painted and printed work referencing the water cycle\, photosynthesis\, polarity and ecology.  This show would never have been conceived without the space to install it\, the concepts are inspired and enhanced by collaborators and the art would lack purpose without others to experience it.
