SUMMARY:Art Opening: Ken Richards
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate the work and art of New Bedford artist Ken Richards:\nKen Richards is a self-taught artist who has been painting professionally since 1992. He lives in Mykonos\, Greece and New Bedford\, Massachusetts with his wife Donna Harris-Richards. \nKen’s Greek landscapes are what first called attention to his artwork. Private showings in Athens\, Paris\, London\, New York\, Charleston\, and Los Angeles led to an international reputation for his colorful\, lively\, and bold paintings in acrylic on canvas or linen. Richards’ landscapes of Southeastern Massachusetts are equally enthusiastically received. Ken’s artwork is valued in private collections in Europe\, North America\, Australia\, and South Africa. \n \nKen’s paintings were featured in Dan’s Papers\, the largest weekly newspaper in the Hamptons of New York. He has been featured in several articles about the artists of Mykonos and Greece in the Athens-based Confidential Magazine. Ken was also profiled in a weekly blog by author Jeffrey Siger (Murder in Mykonos\, Assassins of Athens) about artists in Mykonos. \nRichards’ travels to the Serengeti Plain in Tanzania\, Alexandria and Giza in Egypt\, the Royal palace in Rabat and Marrakech in Morocco\, and the island of Crete have yielded some of his most remarkable studies in light. Ken also found sources of inspiration in Aruba\, Paris\, and Venice. \nEverywhere I travel the light is different and exciting. \nKen is now taking commissions for 2017\, for custom artwork. Ken also accepts appointments to view his paintings at his New Bedford studio. His work will be on display at Groundwork! for the month of December and he will accept appointments for viewing.
